    101019 - Summer Playground

    Beginning June 12th - July 28th, 2017 Monday through Friday the Quincy Park District's Summer Playground program will be open to area children ages 5 -12yrs. This seven week program requires no enrollment fee for participation. The playground program will continue to be a "drop in" style of registration with the supervision of experienced playground leaders. Children will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of special activities. Daily arts and crafts, outdoor games and special activities are provided for children. Fees will be charged for field trips.

    Playground sites from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m will be Johnson Park (18th & Harrison), Bob Mays Park (2533 N. 18th) and Leon Bailey Park (7th & Elm).

    Afternoon sites will be from 1:00 p.m - 3:00 p.m. at Madison Park (24th & Maine), South Park (by Tennis courts, 11th & Jackson), and Reservoir Park (24th & Chestnut).

    101021 - Special Populations

    The Quincy Park District is offering many exciting opportunities to enable special populations to get out and have a great summer.

    The Special Pops Summer program is for children ages 6 - 13 yrs. with an IEP. The program is held M-F from 9:30am - 11:30am. Daily activities will be scheduled and visits to many local businesses will take place for field trips.

    Registration information will be sent home from school with your child. Registration information is available upon request from the Quincy Park District. Enrollment will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

    Adult Activities:

    Three dances will be held this summer for Adult Special Populations. All dances are held at Moorman Park, Large shelter from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.. Snacks and drinks are provided. (In case of rain the dances will be held in the Community Room at the Quincy Mall.)

    101022 - Natural-Born Explorers

    Get the kids outdoors and interacting with the natural world! Children will enjoy a variety of nature based activities, games and art projects, while exploring the natural elements that make Quincy’s Parks beautiful.

    The program will be held on Wednesdays in July, starting on July 5, from 11:00am - 12:00pm.

    First Wednesday meets at South Park large shelter, following weeks will meet at other parks. Scheduled activities include a nature interpretation tour in South Park, fishing in Moorman Park, examining the prairie restoration areas at Westview Golf Course and a nature interpretation tour of Bill Klingner Trail in Bob Mays Park.

    Quincy Park District will be offering a soccer program for this spring. This program will take place at Boots Bush soccer complex. The goal will be attempting to play a full-length game as soon as possible, and of course, to learn and have fun! Volunteer coaches will be needed. The field dimensions are reduced to compensate for the size and speed of young children. Registration fee includes team shirt.

    101026 - Kindergarten Prep

    The program will introduce children to academic and social experiences through kindergarten preparation activities. Students will explore counting, letter recognition, writing, music, small and large motor skill development, story time and enjoy crafts and games. This program is for children who have not previously attended a preschool or pre-kindergarten program and who are starting kindergarten in the fall of 2014. The Early Childhood Center and the Quincy Park District will provide a curriculum for appropriate ages and skill levels. Children ages 4 to 5 years old may participate in the program, which will be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 22 - July 31 at Berrian School. Children must be toilet trained.

    103000 - Walk A Hound, Lose A Pound

    Get out this summer for some exercise with a four legged friend. The Quincy Park District and Quincy Humane Society are teaming up to bring you Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound. At 9:30 AM on Thursdays, the Quincy Humane Society will have a group of dogs to available to take to Moorman/Wavering Park that could use a walk and a good friend. The dog walkers are free to roam the park with their canine counterparts until the 10:30 AM meeting time back at the pickup location. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times.

    The group will meet at the Quincy Humane Society(1701 North 36th) to pick up and drop off the dogs. We ask that participants be willing to pick up the dog from the shelter and drive them to the park.
    Pre-registration is required, but the program is FREE!
    AGES: 15 - UP
    (Ages 15-17 must have a participant that is 18 or older)
